Into the unknown

Doomed by oblique promise of sublime mysterium
Inspired towards an invisible grace whose revelations, we hope, may liberate us from mystic speculation
The light at the end we realise was simply moonglow all along
In search of something holy we failed to notice the ordinary magic
And mistook silence for solitude whilst tall trees had walked us safely home
As the radiance of morning blinds us in glory and in truth
It becomes evident that the only true benedictions were the companions who asked for nothing in return,
and held us in the shadowed corners where gods light didn’t show"
